Trip to Dallas

On July 11, we headed to Dallas for a day trip. The main purpose of the trip was to make a video recording for Rachel's 60th birthday. Rebecca and Laura were recording family and friends on video then compiling on a dvd, sort of like a video scrapbook (which I can't wait to watch). We ended up doing our video in front of the house Justin grew up in. No one was home so we sat on the front porch while we did our part. We usually do a 'drive by' this house everytime we are in Dallas. I can tell you where everyone's room was and which window corresponds to it. I also know all about the Christmas lights that Justin put up and that they have added a gate in the front. I know which trees John and Rachel planted and how they added a family room onto the house. I also know about the giant Christmas tree, blue countertops, and the updated garage. Justin is not sentimental about many things but this house holds a special place in his heart. Although it's not the house itself but the family memories made while living there. When I hear him talk about this house and see his face light up when describing the enormous Christmas tree, it makes me wonder what memories Allie will hold on to. That's usually when I will stop folding laundry, cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms and make a tent with her in the living room. I want her to have those memories too, just like we all do. Some of my favorite memories growing up are playing bank with my sister in the living room using the big brick blocks to make teller windows and playing Uno with everyone. Anyway, this post was not suppose to be about memories but oh well.
Another reason we were in Dallas was to visit Pop (Justin's grandfather). Allie had decorated a flower pot for him for his birthday. I meant to take a picture of the pot but forgot. She painted the sky and grass and used her fingerprints to make flowers, birds, bees, ladybugs, frogs, and butterflies. We were able to spend some good time with him before meeting up with Rebecca, Laura, cousin Bethany and Aunt Sally. Finally, a trip to Dallas is NEVER complete without a trip to the Hanna Andersson store. Unfortunately that is all we had time for since we had a 2 hour drive back for church the next day.
