Western Day!

Last Friday at preschool was Western Day. They had been studying Texas for 2 weeks and this marked the end of the unit. I actually learned a little bit about Texas too. I went to help out but was able to move around and get some pictures. Allie was wearing an outfit passed down to her from her cousin Sophia. It was a little tight but we squeezed into it. She used to have a pair of red cowboy boots that she wore with this but there was no squeezing her feet into those! Everything was suppose to be outside but due to the 30 mph winds everything but the horse was moved inside! It was a fun day.

The other night Justin was out repairing one of our sprinkler heads and he had to turn them on to see if they were all fixed. Allie took advantage of this time to take a few runs through the water. She was having too much fun to make her stop so I just grabbed the camera and took a few pictures! I loaded the pics out of order, oh well.

Allie's First T-Ball Game

After four practices and two games postponed by rain, the Sharks 2009 campaign finally kicked off last Monday evening. We started in the field and on the very first ball hit we got an out! The kids did a great job and seemed to have a general grasp of what they were doing. Everybody got to hit and score a run and they did a pretty good job of staying in their positions in the field. (We've been practicing staying put unless the ball is hit near you rather than the entire team chasing and dog-piling for every ball). This is our very first sport of any sort so Sherrie and I have been curious to see how Allie would react. For the most part she did very well and had a lot of fun, although her attention span (like most of the other kids as well) didn't last all three innings. After the game the kids got Capri Suns and snacks, which of course, is the real reason you play t-ball. Oh, and by the way, the Sharks are Allie Anderson, Peyton Bottoms, Avah Spencer, Caleb Kennedy, Cooper Spencer, Preston Jones, Christopher Lopez, Nyles Moreland, Preston Smith, and Patton Harris. The team is coached by yours truly and Kris Jones.

Bluebonnets

On Saturday I finally purchased a new camera after having used Allie's for the past couple of months! I wanted to try it out so after church on Sunday evening we took Allie to a field of bluebonnets to take her picture. I took too many photos trying out the different settings but I had fun doing it. Also, you might notice Jesus in the pictures! In Sunday school Allie received a rather large stamp of Jesus on her arm. It is very noticeable in some pictures!

A New Do!

Last Wednesday, Allie went to get her hair cut. She got to go to the sinks and lean back to have her hair shampooed which she absolutely loved. I wish I had my camera then because she looked so proud as she walked with the towel on her head to the chair (this is the first time to get it washed, they usually just spray it down). She actually wanted it cut much shorter but I figured we would gradually cut it shorter. They cut off about 4 inches this time. She loved the whole pampering scene they had going on. At one point I looked over and she had her eyes closed. I think it made her sleepy! We came home and took pictures since I forgot the camera. It looks so cute and so much healthier!! Plus it will be great for summer!

Easter 2009

While we weren't with 'real family' on Easter, we did spend much of the day with our 'Home Group family.' After a very nice Easter service at church Sherrie, Allie and I went to Todd and Carla Harshbarger's for lunch. Everybody brought food and the meal was GREAT! (Especially the turkey, supplied by Todd). Everybody included Nickells, the Harshbargers, the Panths, the Bahsens, the Campbells, the Andersons plus all the kids. We hid Easter eggs in the house (bad weather the night before left it pretty muddy outside) and the kids made quick work of the hunting. After that we hung out at the house. Some of the older kids played Star Wars on the Wii (I refrained from participating, in case you're wondering). One of the funniest moments of the afternoon came when Carson Harshbarger (two and a half) came and cozied up next to me on the couch. Carson and I are buds and I just figured he wanted to hang out. Little did I know that he found out that if he sidled up close enough it was the perfect spot to start snacking on chocolate - out of sight of the grown-ups. When I finally realized what he was doing the damage was done - chocolate on his face, the couch, and me, too...sneaky little stinker! No worries though (and no permenant stains either). We had a great afternoon and good fellowship.
